How to make the best of your figure part 3

So, now it’s time for measurement! Hope you all have a tape measure, a broomstick orsomething like that, a sheet of paper, a pen and a friend ready. To make one thing clear, this is not about circumferences, it is absolutely prohibited to measure them, not even one;-). This is absolutely unimportant for what we do now! I read about this method in Brenda Kinsel’s book “Neues aus der Umkleidekabine”– highly recommended – and adopted the parts I show you now, in the work with my clients.   What I like about this procedure is that it really brings you a deeper understanding of your body and teaches you that sizes don’t matter, it is about proportions!                                 We will go today through 3 different measurement procedures and next Monday we will go through the benefits our new knowledge can give us. I prepared some exercise sheets, as you can see in the pictures below, for you to download. Step 1 is the measurement of our head/ shoulder proportions: First your friend measures the spacing between the lower edge of your chin (in case of doubt the first chin) and your hairline (a). Write down the number in the prepared space of exercise sheet one. Now measure the breadth across the shoulders, from one shoulder joint to the other (b). Write down the note in the prepared gap of the exercise sheet. Duplicate (a) and compare these numbers with (b), if they are almost equal, perfect. If not we will figure out next week how to deal with that.   Step 2, measurement of our body proportions: Take exercise sheet 2. We separate our body now into 4 sections, measure them and check the differences. Take off your shoes and as much clothes as possible. First you measure the spacing between your hairline and the middle of your chest. Let the measurement tape hang straight down from your forehead. Take as reference for your middle of your chest the upper line of your bra under your arms, move in a straight horizontal line to the front until you hit the measurement tape. Write down the number, in the prepared gap from the exercise sheet. Now you measure the space between the middle of your chest and the top of your legs. Lift your knee to find the hip joint easier. Measure from the point under your arms we found for the measurement before to your hip joint. Write down the result. Now you go on with the length from your hip joint to your knee, write it down again. Last but not least you write down the distance from knee to the floor. If the numbers you wrote down for the different sections are almost the same (+/- 2-3 cm), you are a lucky girl with well proportioned body. But this is very unlikely! If not, don’t worry we will go next week through the many different options we have to create the impression of a perfect proportioned body!   Step 3: where is your crotch Place yourself in front of a mirror, hold the broomstick in front of you body as a horizontal line across you crotch. Now your friend should measure the distance between the peak of your head and your crotch, write it down on sheet 3 and then from your crotch to the floor. Write this number down as well. Are they nearly equal? Good, if your upper part of the body is longer, we will see what your possibilities are next week. If you lower body is the bigger one, great – long legs are part of our common beau ideal.     I hope you had fun figure out some new details of your body and didn’t hurt yourself or each other with the broomstick or get caught in the measure tape. Next week we will pick the benefits of your work from today, so stay tuned! Xo Johara
