As we talked about last week, there is no common business dress code. It’s varying from industry to industry. But there are two basic directions that we can make out: the formal- and the casual business look. The formal business-look To put it in a nutshell, means: lady’s suit with matching blouse and suit, shirt and tie for men. No other look expresses your ambitions better. It signalizes strength and authority.
The casual business-look Is not a sloppy look with baggy pullover, cargo pants and sneakers at all! But rather simply a bit more relaxed look. Women wear instead of lady’s suit a combination with a fashionable jacket or skirt instead of the blazer or suit-trousres/ -skirt or a t-shirt in place of the blouse, it also means more freedom in choosing colours, fabrics and accessories. Men choose combinations instead of suits or polo – or t-shirt instead of shirt and leave the tie at home. If suitable, jeans are great as well.
It’s important to think about the occasion by choosing you outfit. For some important appointments it can be a good choice to choose a formal look even in a relaxed industry. And reverse it can introduce a note of levity and sympathy wearing a more casual look on an in-house meeting of a conservative industry. Next week we talk about the perfect business suit. Er variiert von Branche zu Branche. Aber generell gibt es zwei Grundrichtungen, die wir unterscheiden können: den formellen- und den entspannten Business-Look. Der formelle Business-Look Bedeutet kurz gesagt: ganz klassisch für Frauen Kostüm oder Anzug mit passender Bluse und für Männer Anzug, Hemd und Krawatte. Kein Kleidungsstil bringt mehr deine Ambitionen zum Ausdruck. Er signalisiert Stärke und Souveränität. Der entspannte Business-Look Meint natürlich nicht einen lässigen Look à la Schlabberpulli, Cargohose und Turnschuhe, sondern lediglich einen etwas „entspannteren“. Für Frauen statt Kostüm bzw. Anzug eine Kombination mit modischer Jacke oder Rock statt Blazer und Anzughose / -Rock oder T-Shirt statt Bluse und beinhaltet einen etwas spielerischen Umgang mit Farben, Stoffen und Accessoires. Für Männer bedeutet dies Kombination satt Anzug oder Poloshirt statt Hemd und die Krawatte kann im Schrank gelassen werden. Wenn es passt, gehen auch Jeans. Es ist wichtig sich bei der Wahl seines Outfits über den jeweiligen Anlass Gedanken zu machen. Bei wichtigen Terminen kann es auch in gelassenen Branchen gut ankommen, wenn man sich für einen formelleren Auftritt entscheidet und umgekehrt kann es in traditionelleren Unternehmen bei firmeninternen Anlässen sympathisch wirken und die Atmosphäre lockern, wenn man den strengen Kleidungsstil etwas bricht.
